John W. Fraser’s nomination honors four decades of service, creativity, and stewardship at the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park, a nationally significant site interpreting a Timucuan village and the 1565 Spanish founding of America’s oldest enduring European settlement. Under his leadership, the Ponce de Leon Gift Shop grew from $79,000 in 1986 to more than $1 million in 2021—extraordinary for a 1,500‑square‑foot heritage retail space. Following his father’s advice to “give them something to do, buy, and eat,” John built a product line rooted in authentic history, expanding water offerings from a single bottle to clay vessels, wine bottles, and the iconic vial card. He also developed one of the largest toy sections in town and carried globes, constellation guides, and planispheres long before STEM education became a trend.

A champion of local art, John supported OB White, Thomas Nader Perro, Rick Worth, and Ken Barrett, ensuring the shop reflected the cultural richness of Northeast Florida.

President since 1995, John guided FOY through major renovations, hurricanes, and flooding, strengthening the park’s interpretive mission. He rejected a development proposal that would have turned the 1927 buildings into condos, erasing one of the most important archaeological sites in the USA. John preserved Florida’s oldest tourist attraction (1878) for future generations and led the successful 2016 National Register of Historic Places application. He was knighted by St. Augustine’s Royal Family in 2019.

John’s community impact includes welcoming 250,000+ visitors annually, supporting school programs, building hands‑on archaeological digs, donating history books to libraries, and overseeing the Fraser family’s donation of 97,000+ Native American and first‑period Spanish artifacts to the University of Florida. He serves on the UF Historic St. Augustine Board of Trustees—yet you can still find him loading drinks at 7 am, a true legend of tourism.

Few individuals leave a lasting impact on a company, its team members, and the community the way Misty Treadway has throughout her nearly 20 years with Holiday Inn Club Vacations. Her journey is a true example of dedication, servant leadership, and an unwavering commitment to both guests and colleagues. Misty began her career with Holiday Inn Club Vacations as a member of the Activities team. From the very beginning, she demonstrated a willingness to step in wherever needed, always putting the needs of guests and teammates first. Her positive attitude, strong work ethic, and genuine care for others quickly set her apart. Whether helping a guest create a memorable vacation experience or supporting a fellow team member during a challenging time, Misty consistently went above and beyond.  Her talent for leadership soon led to her promotion to Activities Manager, where she continued to inspire those around her. Today, as Guest Services Manager, Misty oversees both the Front Desk and Activities departments, serving as a vital leader within the resort. She understands that delivering exceptional guest experiences requires teamwork and collaboration. Her dedication to creating seamless experiences demonstrates her belief that every guest matters and every interaction is an opportunity to make a positive difference. Misty's impact extends far beyond the resort. One of her most inspiring achievements was the creation of the Pop-Up Prom Event called Styled with Purpose held this year at the Gatlinburg Convention Center. Through her vision, leadership, and partnership with the Smoky Mountain Resort Elevate Team, the event provided local teens with the opportunity to shop free of charge for prom attire and accessories. As a result, students from Cocke County, Jefferson County, and Sevier County were able to obtain the essentials needed to attend one of the most memorable events of their high school years with confidence and pride.

I am honored to nominate Bob Holden for the Legends Award in recognition of more than two decades of leadership, service, and lasting contributions to the gift and souvenir industry.

Bob built Holden International into a respected and successful personalized-gift company by doing business the right way: developing innovative products, serving customers reliably, building enduring relationships, and treating people with integrity. Under his leadership, Holden’s products reached retailers and destinations across the country and helped countless stores create memorable experiences for their customers.

Throughout his career, he has generously shared his experience, mentored others, and helped customers, sales representatives, suppliers, and fellow industry professionals succeed. He has always understood that the gift and souvenir business is ultimately a relationship business, and he has represented the industry with professionalism, honesty, and genuine care for others.

As the person entrusted with leading Holden International into its next chapter, I have experienced Bob’s mentorship firsthand. He did not simply sell a business and walk away. That commitment says a great deal about both his character and the legacy he wants to leave.

For nearly 50 years, G.B. Pillai has helped shape the gift and souvenir industry through vision, perseverance and respect for people. He did more than build Wild Republic. He showed how wildlife products could educate, inspire and carry an experience home.

When G.B. and his wife, Kamala, founded the company in 1979, he believed realistic animals could inspire curiosity, understanding and care for wildlife. That belief became Wild Republic’s mission: “Connecting humans and animals to live in peace.”

G.B. pioneered realistic wildlife plush when much of the market was generic or highly stylized. His commitment to authenticity, quality and value helped make it an important category for gift and souvenir retailers.

He earned buyers’ trust personally. In the early years, G.B. filled suitcases with samples, placed them in his green Cadillac and drove from account to account. He listened and formed relationships that have continued for decades, many of which remain strong today. As Wild Republic grew globally, his belief that relationships come before transactions never changed.

G.B. also believed business should create opportunity and improve lives. He established manufacturing in underserved areas of India, creating jobs, and made conservation, children’s causes and responsible materials part of the company’s work. In 2023, The Toy Association named him its Champion of Sustainability.

Now in his 90s, G.B. is still working. He spends time with customers, shares his knowledge with employees, and remains closely involved in the company he founded.

G.B. is a Legend not only because of what he built, but because of how he continues to show up. After nearly five decades, he remains devoted to his customers, his people, his products and the industry that became his life’s work.

Mary Neaf is the founding owner and president of Florida State Distributors, a family-owned company she built into a leader in the souvenir industry. For more than 45 years, Mary has dedicated her career to innovation, exceptional service, partnerships and growth. From its 40,000-square-foot Orlando facility, Florida State Distributors serves theme parks, zoos, aquariums, museums, casinos, national parks, and major attractions worldwide.

Mary’s journey began with a simple idea and determination. After growing up in California and moving to Hawaii, Mary and her late husband, Art Neaf, entered the promotional products industry, inspired by Art’s college friend who had found success in the keychain business. After nine months in Las Vegas, they chose Orlando and began with a custom name keychain.

When marketing relied heavily on personal relationships and door-to-door sales, Mary built the company one customer at a time. Her dedication, creativity, exceptional service, and fast turnaround earned the trust of major organizations and grew a local business into an international supplier.

Mary’s greatest legacy is the family culture she created. She brought her parents and siblings into the business and extended that same spirit to every employee. She believes in teaching others, creating opportunities, and encouraging new ideas. Approximately 25 years ago, she welcomed 12 students from around the world to learn, grow, and contribute their talents.

Under Mary’s leadership, the company expanded into Orlando, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles while maintaining the personal service that built its reputation. Her philosophy remains simple: take care of the customer, keep your promises, and always go the extra mile.

After four decades, Mary Neaf’s impact extends beyond her products. She has built a legacy of entrepreneurship, innovation, family, service, and opportunity. Her leadership and influence make her an exceptional Industry Legends Award candidate.

Whenever I sell Pink Pony Industries to our Customers, I'm really selling Ryan Skinner.  I tell our customers, "Ryan has been doing this longer than he hasn't....He knows great selling souvenirs."  If I can call myself the heart of this business…he is the brains…the mastermind really.
His vast experience in buying, product development and leadership in the world of Theme Parks, Retail, Casinos, and Resorts has more than prepared him for leadership and development on the other side of the table in wholesale representation and now as we navigate distribution.  He understands trends, knows the numbers to back it up, and is ready for any roadblocks that may arise.  Through all that, he manages to be cool and  have fun through it all.  HIs charismatic ideas from beautiful and classic hardlines to funny t-shirts with laserbeams coming out of its eyes, I find are amazing and enigmatic at the same time.  Both extremes seem to sell well and make it into the kitchen cabinets and closets of thousands if not, millions of families.  Who does that?
He’s been an exceptional and legendary partner for me not only in our business as we carve our place in the souvenir industry as Pink Pony Industries, but also in my heart personally as we celebrate over 22 years of marriage.  Cheers to the epic and legendary….Ryan Skinner.

Tim Paczesny has planted 100's if not 1000's of plants and trees to help our world for the future, as well as replacing the wood used for puzzles manufactured at the Education Outdoors warehouse. He has partnered with TAPS to plant pollinator gardens. Has even gone as far as collecting acorns from his daughters property to plant. His company Education Outdoors is a Smokey Bear licensee and donates 10% of all Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl sales to the USDA Forest Service and has for multiple years.
He got the license by one of the licensors recognizing his first game Camp the Board Game (he invented himself! It was the only part number he had at the time too!) and offering the license of Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl to him. Weirdly enough he had his Smokey Bear plush from when he was a kid in his closet at home. The rest is history and we then and now are a brand that is focused on the good we can do for the outdoors and future for all.
